Sobrasada La Luna, more than a century of tradition

Sobrasada is a traditional product of the Balearic Islands. We can define it as a raw cured sausage, made from selected pork meats, season with paprika, black pepper and salt. It is stuffed into the gut and has a long maturation.

Round the year 1900 when Don José Aguiló Pomar founded the Embutidos Aguiló company in the town of Sóller, the first in all of Mallorca dedicated to the production of sausage.


The company's trademark, known as The Moon, in a few years it would become a prosperous company that served its products to the entire island of Mallorca, the iberian peninsula, north africa, South of France, and also in Cuba and Puerto Rico, due to the large number of Majorcans who emigrated to these Caribbean islands during the early years of the 20th century.

It would be in the middle of the years 80, when with the new times, the production process would be facilitated, incorporating modern technology and fully approved facilities at European level, although this did not affect in any way, to tradition, experience and wisdom granted by Mallorcan culture, during 112 years of life.

     

    The Moon is specialized in the production of sobrasada from Mallorca, Sobrasada from Mallorca with Black Pork, the Camaiot, pork liver pate, mushroom pate, the pate with fine herbs and the Black Label pate. The production is always carried out with fresh meat from pigs of the Mallorcan autochthonous breed fattened on the island's farms with natural products from the land.. Their loins and hams, are wisely combined with the best paprika and the best sea salt to achieve, after a necessary healing period, a sobrasada capable of satisfying the most demanding palates, with a perfectly recognizable bouquet and aroma.
